Last week we took you to the stunning resort of Ponta dos Ganchos but this week we are taking you down under to Emirates Wolgan Valley Resort & Spa in Australia. If you love amazing scenery and the great outdoors then this is the resort for you, whether you’re in your room or around the resorts grounds you can be sure to experience breath taking and captivating views that will stay with you even after you leave.
Emirates Wolgan Valley Resort & Spa is the first carboNZero©™ certified resort in the world, as well as the first carbon neutral resort in the world to be certified through an internationally accredited greenhouse gas programme. The resort represents a new breed of high-end resorts dedicated to preserving the natural world for many more generations to come. Only a three-hour drive from Sydney’s Blue Mountains, the 4,000-acre property is centred around the Wallerawang homestead, which dates back to 1832.
The amenities and facilities at the Emirates Wolgan Valley Resort & Spa are simply wonderful. Guest have the option of going horseback riding, hiking, biking and even on a wildlife safari. The resort perfectly finds the balance between relaxed and refined and does so with grassy plains and verdant valleys as its backdrop, showing its guests how beautiful and magnificent nature really can be.
Our room of choice today is the beautiful Wolgan suite, it’s the only one on the resort and its 410 square metres is the epitome of space and luxury. The self-contained suite is set away from the main resort and has a huge and stunning landscaped garden with private terraces and a one of a kind swimming pool. It is the perfect retreat for couples who want a bit more privacy and indulgence while on vacation or families who want a retreat or get together in the midst of stunning surroundings.
Enjoy your expansive living and dining room with double-sided fireplace, as well as your beautiful gourmet kitchen that is fully equipped with all your needs. Each bedroom has its own Luxurious ensuite bathrooms with 'his and hers' vanity area, separate bath and shower. Other amenities include a custom king size bed, temperature controlled swimming pool, Walk-in dressing room, 24-hour room service, six mountain bicycles and much more.
Unwind and relax at the resorts Timeless Spa where you will enjoy the ultimate spa experience. There are double treatment rooms if guests wish to share in the experience with their partner; each room has its own changing area and private bathroom featuring a shower and a Japanese-style soaking tub to complete the indulgent experience. However, if you don’t feel like leaving your lodge it is possible to arrange for a Spa Therapist to provide treatments in privacy of your lodge.
Along with the Timeless Spa there are also two outdoor tennis courts onsite, as well as a fully-equipped gym for guests who wish to keep up their fitness routines. In addition, there is a gorgeous swimming pool where guest can indulge in inspiring views of the dramatic Blue Mountains scenery, and relaxing sauna and steam rooms.
There is a wide range of activities at the resort but we’ve picked two of our favourites. Guests can learn how to horseback ride with the resorts fenced arena, it is fully supervised and is ideal for beginners who want an introduction into horseback riding. Each rider will be shown the basic techniques of horseback riding by an experienced guide and all safety equipment will be provided. If guests want private or longer lessons then this can be discussed with your field guide who will schedule this for you.
We recommend going on one of the wildlife safaris, where you will get to see kangaroos, wallaroos, wallabies and more. Each of the resorts field guides is a skilled and knowledgeable driver who can tailor your tour around your specific interests and you can also catch more beautiful views of the Blue Mountains whilst on your safari tour.
At The Wolgan Valley food is sourced from local boutique farms, private growers and vintners, as they continue to maintain their philosophy of seasonal, regional, and organic produce. The chefs at Wolgan valley won’t disappoint and you can expect to see dishes such as Ormiston free-range pork, Mandagery Creek Venison and Oberon line trout, as well as a selection of delicious local cheeses.
The Wolgan Valley Dining Room offers an elegant yet relaxed ambience with panoramic views of the resort and beyond. At breakfast, guests can expect freshly baked pastries, organic muesli, fruit compôtes, local jams and honey and freshly baked bread followed by your choice of a hearty cooked dish or locally produced cold cuts and cheeses. At dinner, guests can delight in a six-course menu or an à la carte evening meal, on crisp linens with fine wine in sparkling crystal.
