A new month brings with it news in travel, and often the most anticipated is of the brand new hotel openings. As we kick off the month of March, let’s have a look at the most anticipated hotel openings of the month. From Beijing to Miami, here are the hotels to check out on your next vacation.

Waldorf Astoria Beijing

Today sees the highly anticipated opening of Waldorf Astoria Beijing, expected to be the brand's most contemporary and art-conscious hotel to date.

In downtown Beijing, across from the Peninsula Hotel and within walking distance to the Forbidden City, the Waldorf Astoria is a brand-new building with a quirky bronze exterior.

Inside is just as quirky as the exterior. The hotel’s 176 rooms which come complete with Apple TV setups, ), Salvatore Ferragamo toiletries and Samsung tablets that controls nearly everything inside the room.

The hotel's interiors were done by design firm Yabu Pushelberg incorporating elements of Chinese design. Alongside the intricate rugs, silk-paneled walls and contemporary Chinese, you can also spot the Waldorf Astoria Clock (found in each Waldorf Astoria hotel) which "appears weightless while resting in its glass cabinet, creating the illusion that it is floating, or of 'time being suspended.'"

Shelborne Wyndham Grand South Beach, Miami

Shelborne Wyndham Grand South Beach is the latest trendy addition to Miami Beach’s trendy Art Deco district, South Beach famous for its thriving fine arts scene, decadent dining and nightlife, upscale shopping, and pristine white, sandy beaches.

Metropolitan by COMO, Miami Beach

Another Miami hotel which has been hotly anticipated is the 74-room Metropolitan by COMO which occupies a renovated 1930s building in the city’s Art Deco district. Located on Collins Avenue and 24th Street, the views stretch across the Atlantic to the east or the Intracoastal Waterway to the west, flooding rooms with Miami Beach sunshine.

Opening on 3 March, Metropolitan has direct access to the beach and a private swimming pool. Other amenities include two restaurants – The Traymore, the headline restaurant, showcasing Floridean seafood with an emphasis on fine dining and traditional service, while the poolside restaurant will be more relaxed, with wood-baked pizzas and easygoing pick-up food to enjoy during the day.

The Met Bar will offer premium spirits and Champagnes, while the rooftop COMO Shambhala juice bar will provide a calming space to revitalise with a bespoke juice blend after a workout, beachfront run, or massage.

For those looking for the ultimate relaxation the destination of choice is the COMO Shambhala Urban Escape with its four treatment rooms and a rooftop hydrotherapy pool.

Interiors are by the Italian designer Paola Navone, who preserved the hotel’s Art Deco heritage and contrasted it with an urbane, contemporary spirit in shades of peppermint green and dusky grey with surfaces of cool white marble and shining chrome.
